I've had a camera in my hand since I was five years old  and was taught my early photography by a Leica-toting uncle who would lend me his old M1 when we went out shooting. My picture-making went alternatively fast and slow as life threw at me the usual commitments of work, family, kids etc and like many people it was only when I retired, thankfully early, that my photography really took off. I joined my local camera club and began to get to grips with competitions, camera clubs and the photographic vernacular that is now common speech to us all.
Photographic distinctions followed and I currently hold a DPAGB and BPE5*.
The BPE salon circuit has been enormously important to the development of my photography and I would commend it to anyone who has yet to take the plunge. When I’m not making photographs I judge around the Clubs of the L&CPU and when not doing that I help to run my local club - North Cheshire PS having served as President, Syllabus Secretary, Competitions Secretary and latterly, leader of the Development Group.
When I'm not making images or doing other photographic stuff I enjoy being outside. I get out hill walking every Thursday in my local Peak District, the Lakes or in Snowdonia and spend most other days constructing a woodland garden from the rubble site that was once the rear of my house. When forced indoors I enjoy cooking, good food and fine wine, and reading political philosophy.
I’m eternally grateful to the hundreds of people who have helped me, directly or indirectly in developing my art, especially to those members of the L&CPU who set me on the straight and narrow back in those early camera club days and to the innumerable photographers, more talented than me, who inspire me daily with their images.

I'll be happy to answer any queries you may have about my images, photographic technique, my experience as a photographic judge or anything else for that matter. If you're so inclined please visit my Contact page and send me a message.
Last, If you'd like to have your own copy of one of my images virtually all of them are available as unmounted prints at pretty much any size you like. I'll be happy to sell you one at very modest price. If you're interested please get in touch via the Contact page. Don't rip them off from here - the quality will be rubbish.
